Marilyn K. Kerr, B.S. Applied Statistics, M.Ed. Instructional Technology
Marilyn Kerr has 20 years of high tech and computer industry experience in design, development, project management, manufacturing and service delivery. She earned her bachelor’s degree in applied statistics from Utah State University and her M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from the University of Texas – Austin. Marilyn has worked as a statistician and quality improvement expert for both Advanced Micro Devices and Sony Microelectronics, driving quality practices and working with improvement teams for manufacturing quality improvements. While working for Motorola, Marilyn designed training, developed competency-based programs, and facilitated change management practices for enterprise-wide re-engineering efforts. Marilyn later developed and streamlined processes and working relationships for Dell Computer Corporation. She helped the organization attain significant improvements in training development cycle time, resource management and training course quality. While working with Sun Microsystems, Marilyn improved operational and service delivery improvements by defining service delivery standards, leveraging partner-sources for delivery models, and driving the strategic planning process for the Americas service delivery organization. Marilyn is a member of the Service & Support Professional Association (SSPA) and the lead author of a chapter describing competency-based approaches to Capability Maturity Model (CMM) implementation and software engineering skill development (“Developing Strategic Software Skills in Support of SEI” J.
