Marijean Henderson, M. A.
Marijean Henderson received her master’s degree from Northern Arizona University and has 25 years experience in the development of language proficiency. Marijean has qualified in the T. Q. M. process as well as in the Collaborative Literacy Intervention Project (C.L.I.P.), a consortium involving the Arizona State Dept. of Education, Arizona State University and the Tempe Elementary School District. She served the Tempe Elementary School District as a Title I Reading Specialist. While in this position, Marijean developed two highly successful literacy programs and was instrumental in developing the Title I C.L.I.P. adaptation. She served as a model instructor for many out-of-state school superintendents and Reading Specialists interested in observing C.L.I.P. methods and has presented in her field at the International Reading Association Conference. She successfully adapted these techniques for adult learners with reading and writing deficiencies during a pilot at BFGoodrich in Phoenix, Arizona. As a consultant, she developed an emergent reader textbook series designed to serve as a bridge between traditional reading instruction and current research. Marijean is currently a researcher, editor, and consultant assessing readability of documentation and remediation of learners with ESL and reading problems.
